What is Paintless Dent Repair (PDR)?
Paintless dent repair is a technique used to remove minor dents and dings from a vehicle’s body without using traditional bodywork methods like sanding, filling, or repainting. It’s commonly used for:
Hail damage: Restoring vehicles dented by hailstones.
Minor dents: Fixing door dings, shopping cart impacts, or small creases.
Preserving original paint: Maintaining the vehicle’s factory finish, which is a key selling point for customers.
How PDR Works
Process: A technician uses specialized tools (e.g., metal rods, picks, and glue tabs) to gently push or pull dents from the underside or outside of the panel, massaging the metal back to its original shape.
Access Points: Technicians work through existing gaps (e.g., door panels, hood edges) or create small access points if needed.
Tools and Techniques: Includes glue pulling (using tabs and hot glue to pull dents) and precision tapping to smooth the surface.
Client Appeal: Customers love PDR because it’s:
Cheaper: Often 30–50% less than traditional repairs.
Faster: Can take hours, not days.
Preserves Value: Maintains the vehicle’s original paint, avoiding resale value loss.
